This page explains how to delete your account and data in SwiftBuddy, the wallet and bills app by Revamped Swiftbuddy Technology Limited.
You can do it yourself in the app in under a minute, or ask us by email if you no longer have the app.
1. Delete your account in the app
The quickest way, and it takes effect straight away:
- Open the SwiftBuddy app and sign in.
- Go to Profile → Delete Account.
- If there's money in your wallet, withdraw it to your bank account first. The app shows you how.
- Enter your password, tick to confirm, and tap Delete my account.
You're signed out on every device and we email you a confirmation.
2. Ask us to delete it, without the app
If you've uninstalled the app or can't sign in:
- Email info@swiftbuddy.africa from the email address on your SwiftBuddy account, with the subject “Delete my SwiftBuddy account”.
- Include your full name and the phone number you signed up with.
- We'll confirm the request is really from you, by replying to that email or sending a code to your registered phone. We will never ask for your password or PIN.
We reply within 3 working days and complete the deletion within 30 days of confirming it's you. If you still have money in your wallet, we'll first pay it out to a bank account in your name.
3. What we delete straight away
- Your phone number, email address, username and profile photo, removed from your account
- Your next of kin, buddies, saved bill accounts, saved cards and saved bank accounts
- Your notifications, devices you've signed in on, and any verification codes
- Your scheduled payments and open money requests, which are cancelled
- Your loyalty points
4. What we keep, and for how long
Nigerian anti-money-laundering law requires financial services to keep certain records for five years after an account closes. We keep:
- records of your transactions (amounts, dates, references and who they were with); and
- your identity details and verification records (your name, contact details at closure, date of birth, BVN, NIN and ID number).
These are stored encrypted, used for nothing except legal and regulatory purposes, and deleted when the five years end. Read more in our Privacy Policy.
5. Deleting some data, but keeping your account
You don't have to close your account to remove data. In the app you can:
- delete saved bill accounts (Profile → Default Bill Profiles);
- turn off email and in-app notifications (Profile → Notification Preferences).
To ask us to delete anything else, such as your profile photo, buddies, saved cards or next of kin, email info@swiftbuddy.africa from your registered email. We'll tell you what we can delete and anything the law requires us to keep.
