About SwiftBuddy
SwiftBuddy is a Nigerian payments app for paying bills, sending money and paying a loved one's bill without ever seeing their details.
Why we built it
Almost every Nigerian family helps each other pay bills. A parent's electricity token runs out, a sibling needs data for an exam, a friend's DStv is about to be cut. Until now that meant sending meter and smartcard numbers back and forth on WhatsApp, transferring money, and hoping it was spent on the right thing.
SwiftBuddy was built so helping each other with money feels easy, safe and dignified: every everyday bill in one wallet, and the power to pay a loved one's bill directly without ever handling their private details.

Safety and trust
Identity data (BVN, NIN) is encrypted with AES-256 and only ever shown masked. Accounts are protected by biometric login, a transaction PIN and one-time codes for sensitive changes. Payments, bill delivery and identity checks run through licensed Nigerian partners, and limits follow the CBN's tiered KYC rules.
For journalists
Use this description as it is, or shorten it:
SwiftBuddy is a wallet and bills app for everyday life in Nigeria. People buy airtime and data, pay for electricity and cable TV, fund betting wallets, send money to buddies, and gift or request bills, all from one balance. Bill gifting lets someone pay a family member's or friend's bill while seeing only a nickname and a masked number, never their meter, phone or smartcard number. Churches, mosques, schools and associations can also collect payments in the app.
